Memorable Dialogue from the film
Would You Cry if I Died?
DENNY
Mmmm. Just like Mama used to burn!
PEG
Would you like me to scorch you a little
jelly for that?
------------
PEG
Well, I thought I’d make out a list because I
wanna insure a nice distribution of emotion
around the room.
DENNY
A “distribution of emotion”?
PEG
Yeah, y’know, criers next to non-criers
next to criers.
------------
PEG
My point is…let's say…oh, I dunno…I DIE!
Would you, y'know...re-marry?
DENNY
(Door opens)
No, I’m not going there. That’s a “do I look
fat in this dress” kinda question.
------------
PEG
Don’t you see? That's just my point! I’ll die, and you’ll feel
sad for just a minute, but then you’ll forget all about me.
You’ll get on with your life... You’ll give my clothes to Goodwill...
and I’ll be just another picture on the mantle. How could you?
DENNY
I feel like we’re having some kind
of one-sided existential argument here.
PEG
(Sobbing)
Would she look like me?
DENNY
Who?
PEG
Who? You’re kidding, right? Little miss
tight jeans, that’s who! She’ll have big boobs and
big hair…and you’ll use our season tickets on her…
(hitting him) And you know how much I love hockey!
She’ll be sitting in my seat, and eating my nachos…
and she won’t even look a thing like me!
------------
PEG
Wait, wait, wait! How ‘bout if I was in an
industrial accident and all they found
was my head.
DENNY
Your head?
PEG
Yeah, someone cast a spell on me so I
could live with only my head.
DENNY
A spell?
PEG
Yeah, like some kinda voodoo thing, and I was only my head. Would you cry if I were only my head?
DENNY
Well, I’d have to cart you around in my bowling bag...
PEG
C’mon…Den, be serious!
------------
DENNY
Peg, I love you. I’d love you if you were only a head,
or fingers and toes, or nose, or ears. Peg, I’m in love
with the thought of being in love with you. And yes, I
would cry if you died and I’d carry an ache in my heart ...forever.
------------
PEG
Don’t be such a nad, ya big galute!
DENNY
What’s a galute?
PEG
Some kind of cheese I think.
